TO THE PARENTS OF MY STUDENTS: I will use this ProgarChem weebly site primarily for housing of the daily materials I will use for instruction including a daily agenda and powerpoint presentations. I will also enroll my classes in a Google Classroom site in order to communicate with students real time (Important announcements, requests for parent signatures, and to take online quizzes and tests. ) Because our students are so connected to their telephones, I will also use Remind101 to get important urgent messages to them (eg. reminding them to wear closed toe shoes and long pants because we will be working in the lab the next day, etc.).
Syllabus Signature Form
The syllabus for Chemistry at Wando High School is embedded above for your reference. If you click the link to the left, you can download the syllabus. This contains important information about grading policies, absences, late work, and the final exam. Make sure to check it out so you understand the expectations of our class. Once you and your parent/guardian have read it, download and sign the syllabus and return signed paper form or email to me by August 31. |
Laboratory Safety Contract
The laboratory portion of our class is the most important element, as it helps you to understand real world implications of chemistry. It is essential, however, that you understand the laboratory safety rules.
We will learn about lab safety during the first couple of days of school. Throughout the year, we will encounter new potential hazards we may encounter as we execute various labs. We will learn about these prior to each lab. The link below will take you to a comprehensive review of lab safety, published by the American Chemical Society.

Once you have read and understand the rules, please download it and sign. You may turn it in by August 24 paper form or by email (use the form below) to Ms. Progar.
